The Salty Score: 3/5. Charming company, even when the party runs long. This is our spoiler-light, research-based editorial review, informed by published criticism. We have not claimed a first-hand screening.
The setup
Prem Keetanu is happiest when it allows its young characters to be a little foolish. That is a useful quality in a romantic comedy: nobody has to behave like an inspirational poster before the audience can care about them. The Hindi adaptation of Premalu aims for easy conversation, friendship and the kind of small embarrassment that becomes a major event when you are young and convinced everyone is watching. The Times of India praised its humour and youthful charm, and that seems to be the film's most reliable invitation.
What works, and what does not
The other side of the critical response is less flattering. The reviews collected by Bollywood.com note that the second half stretches, with songs and extra scenes slowing an appealing first impression. A light romance needs rhythm as much as chemistry. If the story keeps stopping to remind us that everybody is adorable, the affection can start feeling like a compulsory attendance register. The cast appears capable of keeping the mood buoyant, but the film would probably have benefited from trusting its best interactions and leaving a few repetitions on the editing-room floor.
The Salty verdict
Our Salty Score is 3/5. Choose it when you want an undemanding, good-natured watch and a reminder that awkwardness can be funnier than a giant speech about love. It is less convincing as a tightly shaped comedy, and the familiar remake structure may leave viewers wanting a surprise of its own. Still, easygoing romances do not need to reinvent affection every Friday. They do need people you want to spend time with. On the evidence of the published reviews, this one mostly clears that bar.
