Our research-based take

The Salty Score: 3/5. A compelling hero inside an uneven film.

Milly Alcock's performance appears to be the clearest reason to watch. The character's tougher edge gives the film a useful identity, but reviews are divided on how smoothly the story and wider universe around her come together. Our middle score reflects that split: the lead seems ready for a stronger adventure than every part of this one provides.

A hero with a more bruised temperament can be a welcome change from the polished certainty expected of a franchise launch. Alcock seems to give the character a distinctive presence, and that matters even when the plot around her is uneven. Critics differ on how well the film balances personal hurt with the demands of building a larger DC universe. We would recommend it to viewers curious about this version of Kara and willing to accept an imperfect introduction. Someone looking for an especially coherent adventure may notice the seams more than the star power. Our score sits in the middle because the lead appears worth following, but an engaging central performance cannot by itself make every supporting choice feel necessary. The hope is that a future story trusts this character enough to give her more room and fewer franchise errands.

This is our editorial judgment from published information and critical coverage, not a first-hand screening review. Read the source coverage. We may revise the score after viewing the film.
