Our research-based take
The Salty Score: 3/5. Huge scale, uneven weight.
The sequel offers Ranveer Singh's commanding presence and an enormous dose of action. Critical discussion is far less united on the thin characterisation, political framing and very long runtime. Our score acknowledges the spectacle without treating volume as depth. If you loved the first film's maximalism, there is plenty here; if you wanted a tighter story, bring patience.
The combination of star presence, political violence and a nearly four-hour scale makes this sequel difficult to discuss as mere escapist action. Its excess is part of the pitch, and viewers who responded to the first film's maximalism may enjoy having that energy turned up again. The critical objections matter too: a long movie needs character complexity to justify the time, and spectacle does not automatically deepen its ideas. We would recommend approaching it with attention to what the film asks you to celebrate, not just how forcefully it stages the scene. Our middle score acknowledges the craft and Ranveer Singh's ability to command a frame while reserving judgment about its thinness and framing. A blockbuster can be exhilarating and still deserve questions about the world it presents. The best conversations about this film will probably involve both reactions at once.
This is our editorial judgment from published information and critical coverage, not a first-hand screening review. Read the source coverage. We may revise the score after viewing the film.
